The Book Of Philippians

Inductive Bible Study of Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi, i.e., the book of Philippians. Philippians was a prosperous Roman colony where Paul had earlier planted a new Christian congregation. Paul was at the time of his writing the letter ( A.D. 61) under house arrest in Rome. His letter contains many of the most beloved passages in the Bible. In his letter, Paul reports on his own personal circumstances, encourages the Philippians to stand firm in the face of persecution and false teaching, and to rejoice regardless of circumstances. He exhorts the Philippian congregation to humility and unity. It will be important for participants to be doing their own study of each weekly passage at home (usually about half a chapter), using a provided one page inductive study guide, where participants will explore the given passage’s context, ask their questions of the passage, isolate the main points, and apply those points to their own lives. There are two class offerings for Philippians- Monday Evenings 7:00 pm with Pastor Jim and Tuesday evenings at 7:00 pm with Mike Ribelin.

Wednesday Morning Men’s Bible Study

We invite all men to join us for our Men’s Bible Study at 6:30 am on the first and third Wednesday mornings of each month. During the State-wide CoronaVirus shelter-in-place, we will be meeting online using Zoom. Whether you have attended in-person in the past or this is your first time, simply click HERE to join us.

We are currently studying the book of Matthew. No advance preparation or Bible study experience is needed. Invite your friends to join us!

The Story

Through videos and discussions, The Story will open your eyes to the Lower Story, our story, which is actually many stories of men and women interacting with God in the daily course of life: and the Upper Story, God’s story, which is the tale of His great, overarching purpose that fits all the individual stories together like panels in one unified mural. Discover the heart of God’s Upper Story– His master plan unfolding in the lives of the Bible’s characters as well as in your own life — and experience the joy that comes as you align your story with God’s. This class requires the purchase of a participant guide and a Story Bible, and is the same class that was presented at St. James in 2015.

We are digging deeper into questions like what is worship? What does it look like? Can we even enter into worship when we can’t gather together at church? And what should we do when we don’t feel like worshipping, don’t like the songs, don’t feel the message really reaches us, or don’t have the energy? All are welcome! See you there!
